# answer.cloud Plugins for Claude Code and Codex

Install the official answer.cloud plugin, connect through browser OAuth, and select the intended organization and site.

The official answer.cloud plugin bundles the `answer-cloud-site` skill with an MCP connection. The skill guides Astro site building, CMS templates, deployment, and verification; the MCP tools manage sites and content.

## Install the official plugin

Use the installation instructions in the [official answer.cloud plugins repository](https://github.com/answer-cloud/answer.cloud-Plugins). The repository contains the current Claude Code and Codex packages and their supported installation paths. Follow the instructions for your client rather than using commands from an older plugin release.

In Codex, install the answercloud plugin from the available plugin catalog when it is listed. In Claude Code, use the official marketplace instructions in the repository. After installation, confirm that the `answer-cloud-site` skill and answer.cloud MCP tools are available.

## Connect with browser sign-in

The normal interactive connection uses browser OAuth. Start the connection in your client, sign in to answer.cloud, and complete the authorization flow. You do not need to put a hosting key into public files or export `ANSWERCLOUD_API_KEY` for this normal browser-based setup.

The service endpoint is `https://answer.cloud/mcp`. This is an operational endpoint, separate from the public marketing and documentation host at `https://www.answer.cloud/`.

## Select the organization before changing a site

1. Ask the agent to run `list_organizations`.
2. If several organizations are available, choose the intended one.
3. Include its `organization_id` on subsequent tool calls when required by the connection.
4. Run `list_sites` and use the exact `site_slug` returned for the target.

One connection may expose multiple organizations. A familiar site name alone is not enough to select a production target.

## What you can ask the agent to do

- Build a standalone Astro website on an answer.cloud address.
- Set up an AI companion for an existing website.
- Prepare editable CMS templates and draft content.
- Publish content or deploy a reviewed site when you explicitly request it.

See the [hosted-site guide](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/mcp-hosted-sites-hosted/), [existing-site guide](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/mcp-existing-sites-hosted/), and [multi-site guide](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/managing-multiple-production-sites-hosted/).

## Troubleshooting authentication

Reconnect through the client’s sign-in flow if authorization expires, then check the organization inventory again. Service or hosting keys may be appropriate for supported headless integrations, but they are separate from the interactive OAuth setup. Keep any such credential out of browser code, source control, screenshots, and deployment archives.
