Connect other supported assistants

Connect another assistant when it supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP and OAuth, verify read access, and separate account tools from website build capabilities.

Answer Cloud's account tools can be used by clients that support remote Streamable HTTP MCP with OAuth. Compatibility has two parts: connecting to the service and having the local capabilities required for your task.

Claude Code and Codex have [dedicated setup guides](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/agents/plugins/). Other clients should use their current MCP connection interface rather than copy another client's configuration syntax.

## Configure the connection

Create a remote MCP connection with these values:

| Setting | Value |
|---------------------------|-----------------------------------------|
| Server URL | `https://app.answer.cloud/mcp` |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Authentication | OAuth through the browser |
| Custom authorization header | None for a normal personal OAuth connection |

Complete sign-in and choose the intended Answer Cloud organization. A client that supports only local stdio servers, legacy SSE without Streamable HTTP, or static API keys does not satisfy this connection contract.

ChatGPT environments with custom MCP or custom app support can use the same server URL and OAuth. The availability of that feature depends on the current client, account, and workspace policy. Follow the setup controls available in that environment; do not assume that a normal web chat has terminal or upload access.

## Test a read-only task first

Ask the assistant to list organizations and then the selected organization's sites. If several organizations are returned, select one explicitly. Confirm the site slug and public URL before asking for any modification.

Next, try a task that fits the client's capabilities, such as listing configured content collections or reading available analytics. Use the returned tool schemas and [reference documentation](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/reference/mcp/); the presence of a connection does not mean every feature is included in the site's plan.

## Match the task to the environment

| Task | Additional capability needed |
|--------------------------|---------------------------------------------------------------|
| Read analytics or chat batches | Authorized MCP tools and feature access |
| Draft or publish a CMS entry | CMS-ready collection and the relevant tools |
| Edit and deploy an Astro website | Writable source project, compatible Node/npm, build execution, ZIP creation, and binary upload |
| Test the visible chat widget | Browser interaction or a clearly disclosed API-only fallback |

If the assistant cannot build or upload, preserve the website brief and source and continue in a capable coding environment. Installing a plugin does not grant missing tools or override client permissions.

## Connection problems

Confirm the exact server URL, OAuth support, current account, and selected organization. Reconnect through the client rather than pasting tokens into chat. If a client cannot complete the required transport or OAuth flow, use [Claude Code](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/agents/claude-code/) or [Codex](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/agents/codex/) for the task, or contact [support](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/account/support/) with the client's name and the observed error.
