# Account access and recovery

Recover account access, claim an initial website, manage workspace invitations, and reconnect an agent without creating a replacement site.

Reviewed November 1, 2026

Use the account that owns the intended workspace or has an accepted membership there. Browser sign-in, a guest launch credential, and an agent's OAuth connection are separate kinds of access; success in one does not establish the others.

## Sign in or reset your password

Open [Answer Cloud sign-in](https://app.answer.cloud/users/sign_in). If you cannot use your password, choose **Forgot password?** and follow the email recovery flow. Use the email associated with your account. Keep passwords, reset links, and verification codes in the browser rather than sharing them in chat.

After signing in, check the current workspace and intended site's URL. If the site is missing, verify the account email and workspace membership before creating anything new. Contact [support](https://www.answer.cloud/docs/account/support/) when you cannot recover the owning account.

## Claim a website built through the first-launch guide

The initial `/new` workflow can publish a starter website before full account setup. Its agent returns a **Finish account setup** link. Open that link and complete sign-in or email verification to accept ownership of the existing site.

Successful production publication queues an account-setup email. Delivery is asynchronous; a live website does not prove the email arrived. Check the returned setup link and your mail folders before requesting help. Keep the site's reserved slug, public URL, and editable source.

Claiming ownership ends temporary build access. Later edits use your normal authenticated connection and the same source project. Do not start another guest reservation to recover the existing website.

## Join or leave a team

An existing workspace member can invite someone through the organization's team/invitation interface. Invitees sign in with the invited account and accept the invitation. Member and admin roles are supported; the inviter's permissions constrain the role they can grant.

Only the workspace owner can remove a team member through the team controls. The owner cannot remove themselves using that action. Billing changes also require the owner. If the interface does not offer the ownership or account change you need, ask support rather than assuming a self-service transfer exists.

## Reconnect your agent

1. Open the agent's Answer Cloud connection and repeat browser sign-in.
2. Approve the intended organizations.
3. Run `list_organizations`, select the workspace, then run `list_sites`.
4. Confirm the existing reserved site before requesting another edit.

In [MCP settings](https://app.answer.cloud/site/settings/mcp), review **Your connected agents** and personal tokens. Disconnecting an OAuth agent removes its access across the organizations approved for that connection. Reconnect it afterward if continued access is intended.
